Trip to Burma

what an awesome trip. We needed to go get our visas renewed so we took about a 5 hour drive to Burma/ Myanmar. For any of you who have been following the latest on this county's political and natural disaster struggles, it is kind of hard to believe that we were allowed to go in at all. We were, under several circumstances. We had to leave our passports at the boarder (to ensure we would return). There is only a small area that we are permitted to see. Apparently you could only stay in the country for 24 hours, but when we went it was extended to 14 days. It was amazing to see the changes that a happened just by crossing a bridge. We were in the tourist area and yet there was a noticable difference in economy and way of life. I really can't explain what we all experienced in the few hours that we were there, but it just made us want to go further and see more. (I should mention that we were not in the area where the cyclone hit). I can't believe what has happened to the people of Burma in such a short time.
